The American Association of Body Art Professionals is the first and only true professional association for artists involved in the tattoo and body piercing industry.
The Association is headed by a Board of Directors that includes Master Tattoo and Piercing Artists, Health Professionals, Educators, Legislators and Supporters and acts as the Parent Organization for State Member Associations.
Membership in this association requires artists to receive verified professional training and subscribe to and practice their craft according to a strict code of ethics and standards.
Members are subject to regular inspections to ensure the maintanance and practice of these standards.
States and Municipalities are encouraged to adopt or modify codes and ordinances toward a self-regulated industry, requiring membership in good standing in a standards and ethics based professional association.
Additionally, the association acts as an information clearinghouse for governments, artists, clients and prospective artists regarding professional standards in training and business practices and provides membership rosters for the benefit of public safety and quality of service.
